Not far from the Atlantic coastline, in between the Gironde and Dordogne Rivers, the region of Bordeaux hosts some of the world’s most prized and celebrated vineyards. But behind the curtain of fancy chateaux and colossally high price tags, most Bordeaux producers are committed to making delicious and elegant wines for everyday drinkers from the rich alluvial soils that cover the vineyards. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec compose the red blends, made for fresh and bright “clarets” and robust age-worthy cuvees. The Left Bank is ideal for Cab-dominated blends, the Right Bank for Merlot and the Entre-Deux-Mers region for approachable, value-driven cuvees. The region’s varied microclimates are ideal for growing Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, allowing producers to create both soft and dry white wines, as well as succulent, sweet and vibrant wines made from the presence of noble rot. We are fortunate to work with a variety of producers in Bordeaux whose sustainable farming practices are raising the bar of quality and environmental responsibility in the region.
